Darkness & Despair for Mother π·πΊ Russia
The Russian high command anticipated a quick collapse of Ukrainian πΊπ¦ resistance β analogous to the reaction Russia had to being invaded by Germany during WWII.
However no such collapse occurred, instead, the Ukrainian Army absorbed the Russian's strongest blows and bogged them down in a war of attrition for which the Russians were unprepared for and incapable of winning.
The Russian's diminished forces could no longer attack along the entire Western Front, and subsequent operations to retake the initiative and drive deep into Ukrainian territory eventually failed β¦ resulting in Russia's defeat.
